Ohtori Royal Academy (also know as just Ohtori Academy or the Rose Academy) is a prestigious high school responsible for the tutelage of many of the world's most promising and influential students. They have major financial backing by all the major mega-corps and world governments. Ohtori Academy is home to many of the most advanced technologies and represent a significant investment by many special interests. Ohtori Academy has a 3 year curriculum covering the last 3 years of high school.

Ohtori Academy is located on a small island named Ohtori Island off the cost of Japan, but has extraterritorial rights and is not officially considered part of Japan. There is a high speed maglev train from the academy to Japan including stops in Tokyo, Osaka, Shijuku, etc. Ohtori academy also has it's own air port and ship port. The island is about 1000 km², however only about 1/3 of the island is developed. The rest of the island mostly consists of mountains, forest, and plains.

Ohtori island is home to many species. Many animals were brought to the island for various experiments and agricultural reasons. It is believed that several dozen species are unique to Ohtori Academy alone due to escaped biology experiments. There are also rumors that the island used to be used for animal smuggling. It is not uncommon to see animals ranging for ostriches to zebras, to mountain lions to koalas.

Gaining admittance into Ohtori Academy is very difficult due to the high level of competition. Currently, Ohtori Academy houses about 5,000 students form countries all over the world. Most students come from influential families or have other such connections. Some however make it on pure merit alone, netting scholarships for their outstanding achievements.
